Google Docs: Grade Book
Google Docs Spreadsheets is a free way to create professional spread sheets such as a quiz doc, grade sheet, data sheet and more. There are several ways in which Google Docs can be used in the classroom, such as tracking progress on daily assignments, analyzing data, exploring prime numbers, studying growth, managing finances, etc. One specific way in which to use Google Docs Spreadsheets is to create a gradebook spreadsheet. This gradebook spreadsheet can serve to record student grades, while also calculating the total points achieved, the grade that ties to the total points achieved, the highest points achieved on each assignment and in total, the lowest points achieved on each assignment and in total, and the average points achieved on each assignment and in total. Formulas are created for each of these functions. Then, charts can be made that tie to the gradebook, which give a visual picture to the spreadsheet and show relationships between students and their grades, assignments, and endless creations.
For this assignment, I developed my own gradebook. My gradebook included data for five different students in five different assignments, and a graph representing all the assignments.
